Flight Delay Compensation Calculator

Under UK261 (and EC261 for EU flights), airlines must pay cash compensation if your flight was delayed 3+ hours, cancelled with under 14 days’ notice, or you were denied boarding. Up to £520 per passenger.

UK261 covers any flight departing the UK, plus arrivals into the UK on UK airlines. EC261 covers EU departures plus arrivals into the EU on EU airlines.

Airlines often blame “extraordinary circumstances” wrongly — technical faults, staff illness, and crew strikes usually still count as the airline’s responsibility.

UK261 amounts: £220 (short), £350 (medium), £260 (long, 3-4hr), £520 (long, 4hr+). EC261 (EU): €250 / €400 / €300 / €600 respectively. You have 6 years to claim in the UK, 2-3 years for EU flights. Source: UK CAA — Resolving Travel Problems.
